Mansplaining

A pejorative term meaning; (of a man) to comment on or explain to a woman in an overconfident, condescending and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner. Now that I have "Mansplained" it, the dance will take a humorous and empowering look at this concept from a women’s perspective.

Choreographed by Ted Thomas & Frances Ortiz

South by Southwest

Exploring the concept of protest from an individual, couple and group perspective, this work investigates the singular dynamic while analyzing the complex relationship of group behaviors that are magnified due to social consciousness.

Choreographed by Ted Thomas

From Birmingham to Baltimore

This piece compares the state of democracy in the 1960's and today as it relates to social, economic, cultural, sexual and racial equality. Sixty years ago, dance and music echoed the sentiments of a young America, desperate for change that was eventually made law by the Supreme Court. This work reflects on these social movements and how they have shaped America to this day.

Set to the music of Kronos Quartet

Based on the writings of Joseph P. Martino, Frayed Ends is a tender, romantic duet that explores not only the occasional dissonances within a relationship but how the consonances can render them meaningless.

Set to music by Rachmaninov and Yo-Yo Ma

Corelli

Commissioned by the Connecticut Ballet, this dance represents the transition between the harshness of winter and the bliss of spring. It illustrates the beauty of nature and its bounty of colors.
